A guided walking tour through the town of Borås. See and feel the sculptures! Be amazed by the big and striking mural paintings. Do you take a special interest in Textiles? If yes, please join in as the Institution of Textiles, Borås University, in spite of vacation time, generously has agreed to give a lecture and a tour at the new Textile Fashion Center of Borås. Annie Andreasson, Head of the Communication Departement of the University, will give us glimpses from her book The Threads of Knowledge: The history of the School of Textiles 1866-2013

Half Day Tour
A Tour of Borås.
Go by bus to see some of the most interesting places nearby Borås. The The Abecita Art Museum will offer history, photography, and graphic art from Europe and the US, together with Nordic Textile. Here you will also get a taste of the famous shopping area “Knalleland”. You will also pass by Rya Åsar (hills). At the lunch stop in Rydal you will find the well preserved remains of an old industrial community. Rydal is of national interest. The factory, along with several other buildings, is declared a historical monument. You will learn how the Boras region became the textile epicenter of Sweden.

Skaraborg – Geology, Ecology and Ancient History
Skaraborg, with its old geological and cultural history, is definitely worth visiting. The unique Table Mountains give a beautiful background to the old churches and stone grave settings as well to the bird sanctuary Hornborgarsjön and the ecological farming and milk production. At a visit to the Dahlén Museum we will have the possibility to honor the great inventor Gustav Dahlén, a 1912 Nobel Prize laureate in Physics and the inventor of the AGA stove and AGA lighthouse. Here we will stop for lunch. Tour: Borås, Ekornavallen, Hornborgarsjön, Dahlén Museum, Varnhem Abbey, Vadsbo Ecological Milk Producation and Askeberga Ring (old stone setting). A full day tour.
